A to Z of Motoring - Driving School
|
The client operates a bureau service for driving instructors under a branded franchise operation.
In addition to developing the office server software, BaySoft created a suite of
linked programs for Palm-Pilots accessed from each instructors vehicle.
Although originally developed back in 2001, this was one of our most technically challenging commissions.
There are in excess of 60 instructors using a specially written
suite of Palm programs in each car.
The Palm unit is coupled with a thermal battery printer and an end-of-lesson advice
roll is printed after each lesson is completed.
The pupil receives printed advice on syllabus coverage and scoring; payment transactions;
lesson schedules and test booking information.
The Palm unit is synchronised with the remote office transactions and data is passed
between the two systems.
The system reduced the need for actual contact with each instructor by around
95% as messages and queries are also conveyed via the Palm system.
